Real Estate License Renewal for First-Time
Agents
|
|

|
The Pennsylvania State Real Estate Commission requires special post-license
continuing education only for persons who received real estate sales licenses AFTER Dec. 1,
2009, or any licensees who have not yet completed
their initial 14 hours of CE. All other licensees must complete continuing education by May 31,
2012, but are not required to take the special post-license courses.

Real Estate License Renewal for Brokers,
Associate Brokers, and Veteran Agents
|
|

|
To renew
or reactivate a real estate sales,
associate broker or broker license, licensees must obtain 14 hours of continuing education
(CE). Only brokers, associate brokers, and salespersons seeking to renew
or reactivate their licenses are required to complete CE. New licensees are exempt from the CE requirement if their license is issued after Dec. 1 of the year preceding the renewal deadline.

and also offer credit toward obtaining a real estate

Real Estate License Renewal for Commercial
Agents
|
|

|
Brokers, associate brokers, and salespersons who practice in commercial real estate are no different than other real estate licensees, but they often request continuing education courses that are specific to their work.

FAQ: Renewal Or Reactivation?
|
|
Renewing An Active Real Estate License
|
|
|
Individuals with a real estate salesperson's, associate broker or broker's license must complete 14 hours of continuing education (CE) every two years, by no later than May 31 of even-numbered years. Licensees should renew their licenses online, but only after completing 14 hours of CE. Renewing a license before completing 14 hours of CE will create problems during a real estate commission audit.
The website to renew real estate licenses usually is opened by the state by March of an even-numbered year, three months before licenses expires. The site to renew
a license is www.mylicense.state.pa.us
Transcripts are no longer sent to the Pennsylvania
State Real Estate Commission for renewal. They are used only in audits or to reactivate an inactive license (see below). Once renewal has been completed, licensee obligations generally are considered fulfilled until the next renewal deadline.
The Real Estate Commission conducts random audit checks after the renewal deadline. Individuals who took CE courses with Polley
Associates and who receive an audit letter must contact Polley to obtain an official transcript to return to the
Real Estate Commission as proof of CE completion.

Reactivating An Expired License (A License
"In Escrow")
|
|
|
Pennsylvania-licensed real estate salespersons, associate brokers or brokers whose licenses have expired (or are "in escrow") cannot renew, but instead must reactivate their licenses.
- Call Polley Associates at 610-353-6776 (Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.) to request an official transcript (which bears Polley's embossed or raised school seal) for continuing education (CE) completion. Transcripts without a seal are not considered official, and will not be recognized by the
Pennsylvania
State Real Estate Commission. Please wait until all 14 hours of continuing education have been completed before requesting a transcript.
- Sign and complete the reactivation application. The application can be downloaded under the forms and applications page at the
Real Estate Commission
website.
- Attach an official transcript to the application.
- Attach a criminal background check to your application. You can instantly request, purchase and print a criminal background check by visiting
the Pennsylvania State Police
website and following its
instructions.
- Mail your application, Polley transcript, and background check to the
Pennsylvania
State Real Estate Commission at the address indicated on the application.
