In Pennsylvania:
You need a license to sell real estate in PA. To get a license, you must pass a state exam. To qualify to take the state exam, you must take and pass 60 hours of sales license courses.
If you already have a license to sell real estate in PA, it must be renewed every two years, by May 31 of each even-numbered year. To qualify for renewal, you must take 14 hours of continuing education.
To become a broker in PA, you must have 3 years of documented experience as a licensed real estate salesperson, and you must pass a state exam. To qualify to take the state exam, you must take and pass 240 hours of broker license courses.
To become a certified residential or certified general
appraiser in Pennsylvania, you must complete and pass a series
of courses and a state exam required by the state Board of
Certified Real Estate Appraisers. You also must complete an
internship supervised by a certified appraiser. To begin the
process, you must become a licensed appraisal trainee by
completing three courses totaling 75 hours.
If you are already certified to appraise real estate in PA, your
certification must be renewed every two years, by June 30 of each odd-numbered year. To qualify for renewal, you must take 28 hours of appraisal re-certification courses.
