ABR® Designation Requirements
Education and an exam. Experience. Membership.
The Real Estate Buyer's Agent
Council® (REBAC®) has set specific educational requirements to become an
Accredited Buyer Representative®.
To complete the Accredited Buyer Representative®
(ABR®) basic course, learners must meet Polley Associates' attendance requirements during the two-day live
class and successfully pass an exam with an 80-percent score or
better. After successful completion of the basic course, candidates have three (3) years in which to complete remaining
ABR® designation requirements.
Within three (3) years of completing an ABR® basic course, designation candidates also must successfully complete
any one of several available ABR® elective
courses. This includes meeting Polley Associates' attendance requirements during the one-day live class, and successfully passing an exam with an 80-percent score or better.
To obtain their designation, learners also must supply documentation
that verifies five (5) completed transactions in which they acted solely as a buyer representative (no dual agency). Any transactions closed before taking the
ABR® basic course, or closed within three (3) years after completing the
ABR® basic course, are eligible for credit.
Visit the REBAC® website
to learn more about what documents are needed.
Designees also must maintain membership in good standing with the National Association of
REALTORS® and The Real Estate Buyer's Agent Council®. Dues in
REBAC® are $110 per year, but first-year fees are paid for by the council and
Polley
Associates!
