First, Become A
Licensed Appraiser Trainee
As of Oct. 1, 2010, the first step for people
interested in becoming
certified residential appraisers or certified general appraisers in
Pennsylvania is to become a licensed appraiser trainee.

Appraisal Certification Requirements
Rules changed in 2008.
The
Appraisal Foundation, the
national organization authorized by
Congress to set standards and
qualifications for real property
appraisers, issued new
requirements for persons
interested in becoming certified
appraisers of real estate.
These new standards affect all
states, including Pennsylvania. They took effect Jan.
1, 2008.
